Individual psychotherapy is an excellent way to achieve your goals. It is the treatment format that is used in the majority of cognitive behavioral therapy studies. For most, a course of treatment lasts between 20-25 sessions. Typically, individual cognitive behavioral therapy is weekly with sessions lasting 45-minutes. As symptoms improve, it is sometimes possible to reduce the frequency of sessions. However, when someone is having greater difficulties, more frequent sessions may be recommended. Sessions typically take place in our office. However, when appropriate, all or part of sessions may be conducted outside of the office in the case of in vivo exposures or home visits.
